David Adams, or DJ, as his friends call him, has over 30 years of experience in education, including being a successful principal at six different schools in three different countries. His achievements include significantly improving underperforming schools and opening a project-based learning school in Muscat, Oman. He is well-versed in inquiry-based and project-based learning. He served as principal for St. Catherine School in Kapaʻa, and his service extends beyond education via his love for health and fitness. David runs a nonprofit that donates running shoes to local people in need.
DJ says, “It is an incredible blessing that my journey in life has found Alakaʻi O Kauaʻi Charter School, as we share common values and beliefs about quality education. The learning community already has a dedicated board, talented staff, supportive parents, and inquisitive learners, so it’s exciting to see where we can all grow together positively going into the future.”
DJ lives in sunny Kekaha with his wife, Dr. Pamela Adams, whom he married on Oahu over 30 years ago. In his spare time, DJ competes in triathlons and is currently training for the Ironman World Championships in Kona. DJ looks forward to connecting with his ohana at the school.
