Director Paul’s Message

Welcome to Quarter 2: Starting Strong & Building Ahead!

We’re excited to jump into a new quarter full of opportunity, growth, and continued learning. After a well-deserved fall break, our learners are returning with fresh energy and ready minds. As always, we mahalo you, our ʻohana, for your support as we work together to help each keiki thrive.

ʻIke Hawaiʻi & Art Classrooms Coming to Life:

We’re thrilled to share that construction is continuing on our dedicated ʻIke Hawaiʻi and Art classrooms! These new spaces will provide meaningful environments for students to explore culture, creativity, and hands-on learning. We appreciate your patience as we move through the building process, and we’ll keep you updated on progress and timelines as they develop. It’s an exciting time to be growing, both academically and physically, as a campus.

Keeping the PBL Momentum Going!

Project-based learning (PBL) continues to thrive as learners collaborate, create, and dive deeper into their inquiry. As students face new challenges and discoveries in Quarter 2, we encourage families to keep the conversations going at home. Ask your keiki about their group roles, what they’re learning, and how their work connects to the real world around them.

A special shoutout to our 7th-grade learners, who did a fantastic job with their Presentations of Learning last week! They showcased their understanding of the human body systems with confidence and creativity, an impressive example of meaningful, student-driven learning in action. Great job, Grade 7!

A young woman smiles while holding a large poster project of the urinary system, featuring labeled kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra, in a gymnasium with people and tables in the background, like a director sharing Paul’s message.

Field Trip Fun at the National Tropical Botanical Garden:

Last week, our 7B and 4th-grade classes had the incredible opportunity to visit the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Kalāheo! Learners explored the lush grounds, discovered native and endemic Hawaiian plant species, and deepened their understanding of the vital role plants play in our ecosystems. It was a wonderful day of hands-on learning, connection to place, and appreciation for the natural beauty of our island. Mahalo to all the staff and volunteers who helped make this experience possible!

Practicing ʻOluʻolu with Kindness and Care:

Our ALOHA SEL focus this month is on ʻOluʻolu – being agreeable with pleasantness. Learners are discovering how showing kindness, patience, and a positive attitude can help build stronger relationships and a more joyful school experience. Whether working with classmates, teachers, or friends, ʻOluʻolu encourages us to treat others with care and approach challenges calmly.

You can support this at home by encouraging your keiki to use kind words, listen with empathy, and respond to situations with a calm, respectful attitude. Together, we can help make every space a little more thoughtful and pleasant!

Let’s launch Quarter 2 with intention, purpose, and ALOHA. We are proud of the resilience and growth our learners continue to show every day. Here’s to a strong start and an even stronger quarter ahead!

Mahalo Nui,
