Director Paul’s Message

Aloha e Alakaʻi O Kauaʻi ʻOhana,

It is hard to believe we have already completed our third week of school! It has been wonderful to see our campus truly find its rhythm. Routines are becoming second nature, new friendships are blossoming, and our classrooms are buzzing with the happy energy of deep and engaged learning.

As our learners become more comfortable, we want to share a couple of friendly safety reminders:

  • Aloha value of the month – AKAHAI: Kindness expressed with tenderness. Let’s continue to find opportunities to showcase our Akahai, a strong thread that runs through our school community and culture. Our Akahai board is filling up with expressions of kindness more and more each day…we love it!
  • Academic Focus: Please check in with your child daily on their school work. All teachers are leaning into more academics, which can come with a need to balance some stress for learners. Reach out to your teacher should you see any need to support your child.
  • Love and Logic for Parents and Students: Review the links to our philosophy of behavior management at school. This is a great resource to support parents in addressing children’s behavior in a positive and empowering way.
  • Playground Safety: Mahalo for reviewing the seesaw guidelines with your children. Continue to talk about communication and teamwork will help ensure the playground is a safe and fun space for everyone.
  • Safe Driving: A reminder to please drive slowly and with extra caution on the private road leading to and from campus. Your mindful driving is essential for keeping our keiki safe during our busy drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Overall Wellness: We have noticed a bump in illnesses recently. Please take care of your family’s health and well-being. Eat balanced meals, get some exercise daily, and enough sleep (8 hours for children of school age). Most of all, please monitor screen time, especially social media, which can cause a great deal of anxiety for everyone spending too much time there.
