Aloha kākou,
As we conclude our fifth week of school, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who makes Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School such a special place. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated. Here are some highlights from the past week:
-
- Curriculum Development: Our facilitators have been diligently working to refine our curriculum, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences for all learners. Individual Learning Plan (ILP) meetings will soon be open for scheduling. This is a great time to hear about your child’s progress in class. Be on the lookout for your facilitator’s parent square notice to schedule your ILP meeting.
- Student Activities: We had a fantastic Akahai Assembly celebrating “kindness expressed with tenderness.” It is always a joy to see our entire school community recognizing strong values that bring such happiness. Keep an eye out for next month’s ALOHA value—we look forward to celebrating it with you!
- Community Engagement: Big mahalo to our parent-teacher network, Na Hoa O Alaka’i, for providing the school staff with a great treat of snacks and sandwiches during picture day. It was warmly welcomed, and we are all very grateful.
- Campus Improvements: We’ve made great strides in enhancing our learning spaces, marked by the groundbreaking of our new classroom building. We are excited to see the foundation developing as highlighted in this week’s main image.
My sincere mahalo goes out to all our incredible staff – our dedicated facilitators and educational assistants, our supportive administrative team, our tireless facilities crew, our caring student support staff, and everyone in between. Your commitment to our students and school community is truly inspiring.
And to our wonderful families, thank you for your unwavering support, your active participation, and your trust in us. Your partnership is invaluable as we nurture the growth and well-being of our haumāna.
Me ke aloha pumehana,
Paul Zina
