Director DJ’s Message

An early Mele Kalikimaka greeting to all in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community, and we hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we enter the Winter Break. Mahalo nui for your wonderful support of all the recent festive activities on campus. We immensely enjoyed the added energy and enthusiasm that our learners exhibited this holiday season.

A perfect example of your support can be found by examining the annual Christmas Craft Fair. As a school that embraces project-based learning activities, we are proud of our creative learners and the artistic crafts they made again this school year. The annual Christmas Craft Fair is spearheaded by the Grade Five class under the leadership of Ms. Collette and included involvement from every single learner in our school. We love witnessing both the school wide engagement of all of our keiki and the support of our learning community.

This year’s Christmas Craft Fair raised over $5,300 towards the support of Not-For-Profit Organizations globally for their important work protecting endangered animals. A helpful reminder that not one penny comes to our school and all funds raised go directly to the organizations. A perfect example of this positive relationship created is that the Grade Five class has now adopted an orphaned African Elephant named Toto. Please accept our great gratitude for your generosity in the support of this project-based learning activity that has far reaching global impacts.

Winter Break at Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School has begun. We hope that everyone enjoys a break filled with food, family, and fun. Learners will return to campus on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 to commence the second half of the school year.

Malama pono.
