Director DJ’s Message

Hau’oli La Ho’omaika’i to everyone in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School, and I hope this message finds you all in good health and happiness as we conclude the Thanksgiving Break.

In this season of gratitude, please accept our appreciation for your support of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School. It seems surreal that we have arrived in December.

With a new month, our next school-wide assembly will quickly come, and we will come together and celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing learners. We will be excited to award the top male and top female from each grade level from our fifth annual Turkey Trot that was recently held on campus. In this edition, we will share the photos of those winners from kindergarten to grade eight right after the Turkey Trot concluded.

As we move into December, it is time to commence our annual Holiday Hamper program. This festive event connects those in our learning community with abundance with those who may have a touch less. As with our usual practice, a table will be placed at the front entrance to Main Campus, where those with abundance are invited to drop off non-perishable food items anonymously. The table is intentionally not monitored so that those in our learning community with less are warmly welcomed to take from the table as needed. A new addition for this year is that the student-directed Kindness Club will be looking after the Holiday Hamper program.

If anyone in our learning community is in need, then please contact me directly, and we will make sure that you have food on your table for the holidays. Please know you have my professional and personal assurance that this information will be kept private plus confidential, as our endeavor is simply to ensure the sharing of abundance for all.

Best wishes to you all for a delightful December. Malama pono.
