Director DJ’s Message

Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School, and we hope this message finds you all in good health and happiness as we conclude the Summer Break.

Mahalo to all those generous people who kindly graced our campus on Saturday, July 27th, for our annual Campus Cleanup event. We were incredibly fortunate to witness our largest turnout of volunteers to date for this annual event to help prepare the campus for the upcoming school. We greatly appreciate the gift of your time in putting some extra special touches on our school for the return of our learners.

We also wish to express our gratitude to everyone who came to campus on Friday, August 2nd, from 10 am to Noon for the annual School Open House. Once again, we were overwhelmed with the amount of supportive ohana who came to campus to visit plus drop off school supplies.

Hau’oli Makahiki Hou as we commence the new school year on Monday, August 5th, for our learners. As in our usual practice, the first day of school will be an Early Dismissal Day at 12:30 pm as we fully respect that the first day of school can feel extremely long for our learners, especially those in younger grades.

From that point forward, the regular operating hours of our school will be 8:45 am to 2:45 pm for our learners on Mondays to Thursdays and 8:45 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays.

During the first few weeks of school we do warmly welcome parents to walk their keiki to classes until the routines become more familiar for all. If you choose to do so, then please park your vehicle in an area away from the entrance to the Main Campus, as that area is used by the buses.

Best wishes for a stellar start to the 2024-2025 school year. Malama pono.
