Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School and we hope this message finds you in good health and happiness during this festive season. We greatly appreciate your support of our unique school, especially in those times when there is such an abundance of activities on campus.
In the theme of our character trait focus for December which is CARING, the Holiday Hamper program will continue until Thursday, December 21st when the hampers will then be distributed within our learning community. The program allows those with more to share with those with less by dropping a non-perishable food item on the table located at the Main Entrance to the Main Campus.
The school-wide Spelling Bee champions were crowned after another grueling challenge for our talented spellers. Ho’omaika’i to Tino and Omar who will represent our school at the Kaua’i Complex Area Spelling Bee coming up in the New Year. We wish to express our appreciation to Ms. Giselle who started the program at our school and to Ms. Kelly Ann for carrying the program forward for our learners this year.
Despite all the wonderful additions to campus these days, it is refreshing to share that the importance of education is still the primary focus of our daily lives on campus. A wonderful example of this learning at work is the Kindergarten project-based learning activity on worms. Check out the fantastic display of their learning from the bulletin board posted outside their classroom below and enjoy this video that highlights their work with the worms.
This is a cheerful reminder that the annual Winter Break, a time when everyone in our learning community can enjoy time together with their ohana, is just a few days away. We will have an early dismissal on Thursday, December 21st to commence the Winter Break and students will return on Monday, January 8th, 2024 to greet the New Year.
Mele Kalikimaka kakou and best wishes to each of you for a Happy Holiday!
