Director DJ’s Message:

A belated Hau’oli La Ho’omaika’i kakou to all in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School, and we hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We look forward to seeing our learners back on campus this week as we step towards the month of December.

The American author Tammy Cohen once wrote “A great employee is like a four-leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have.” In this season of gratitude, we wish to express our deep appreciation for the work of Ms. Kelly Ann at Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School. Sadly, Ms. Kelly Ann will be leaving the island and she wanted to share this message with our learning community:

Dear Alaka’i Learning Community: It is with sadness that I have to inform you of my departure from Alaka’i. Unfortunately, my family is relocating to the mainland in mid-December due to my husband’s new job contract. I will greatly miss everyone so much! Please know you have some amazing keiki, and I have enjoyed watching them grow over the years. Many of you have left a special imprint on my heart that I will take with me no matter where I go! I will deeply miss our school, the community, and this island very much. Sending each of you aloha always!

Ms. Kelly Ann was truly a four-leaf clover and contributed significantly to the success of our unique school. Ms. Kelly Ann has faithfully served as the Vice President for our Na Hoa O Alaka’i Parent Teacher Network for the past two years. She has worked extensively as a substitute teacher on days when we had last-minute absences. She has invested countless hours in coaching basketball and Cross Country, supporting the success of many participants. She was a valued member of our “The Thinking Classroom Hawai’i” project and recently did an outstanding presentation at the culmination event on O’ahu. These are just a few examples of Ms. Kelly Ann’s outstanding work that speaks directly to her willingness to drop everything to help others.

We were fortunate to have Ms. Kelly Ann as a dedicated member of our team here at the school and she will definitely be missed. We wish her continued success in her bright future and Ms. Kelly Ann is keenly aware that a job awaits her back at the school should she ever return.

Please do consider spending some time in the coming weeks to share some aloha with Ms. Kelly prior to her departure from beautiful Kaua’i.

Best wishes to you all for a terrific week ahead. Malama pono.
