Director DJ’s Message

Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School. We hope this message finds you well and happy as we approach the last few weeks of the 2024-2025 school year.
Mahalo nui kakou for your support of our unique charter school, which includes the amazing adventures commonly known as Field Trips. Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School deeply embeds Field Trips into the cultural fabric of our school. Last week alone, both Grade Three classes, Grade Four, Grade Five, and both Grade Six classes all headed off campus to explore new learning.
Over the school year, our students have headed over to Pearl Harbor for three days, staying two nights on the USS Missouri to learn about history in Hawai’i. Our students have traveled to Koke’e for three days and two nights to find out much more about the flora and fauna of beautiful Kaua’i. Our Grade Four students have continued our school’s commitment to help restore the Alakoko Fish Pond. We have even seen our students head off on a charter boat experience and interact with the creatures of the ocean. These are only a handful of the many Field Trips our learners enjoyed this year.
We offer our great gratitude to our dedicated staff for providing these opportunities for our learners. In addition, mahalo nui to the countless parents who volunteered to help during these exciting excursions. The supportive people on our Na Hoa O Alaka’i Parent Teacher Network have generously donated the cost of busing to and from all these adventures, and we greatly appreciate their kindness.
We look forward to continuing the fun of Field Trips in our bright future, knowing that they broaden both the experience and learning for our keiki.
Best wishes to you all for a wonderful week ahead. Malama pono.
