Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community and hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we quickly approach the end of April.

Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School is a proud member of the state of Hawai’i Charter School system and we are deeply supported by the dedicated staff who work at the state of Hawai’i Charter Commission. In addition to our great gratitude for this helpful staff, we wish to share appreciation for the volunteers who serve as the state of Hawai’i Charter Commissioners. They selflessly give hundreds of hours to help improve education in the beautiful islands of Hawai’i.

The staff at the state of Hawai’i Charter Commission routinely visit our school to support our work in meeting the expectations of Charter Commission Contract 4.0. Last Wednesday we hosted Executive Director Dr. Ed Noh and Deputy Executive Director PJ Foehr at our school. They were eager to learn about the miraculous improvements at our unique charter school over the last five years.

The state of Hawai’i Charter Commission Frameworks Compliance Team visits our school in-person twice per year to work with us on meeting the expectations of Charter Contract 4.0. These dedicated professionals also facilitate an annual review complete with a scoring system for each of the 40+ charter schools in the state of Hawai’i.

We are pleased to share that Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School earned a remarkable 109 points out of a possible 73 points on the state of Hawai’i Charter Commission Academics Performance Framework. That is not a misprint, our school earned bonus points based on academic success multipliers.

We are also pleased to share that Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School earned an amazing 39 points out of a possible 42 points on the state of Hawai’i Charter Commission Organizational Performance Framework. These results are further verification of the fact that Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School has been the fastest improving public school in the state of Hawai’i over the last three years.
