Aloha mai kakou to the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School and we hope this message finds you all in good health and happiness as we approach the midpoint of February. Mahalo nui for your continued support of our unique charter school.
This week we wish to share some happy success stories from our school dedicated to nurturing the young leaders of Kaua’i. Ho’omaika’i to Orah and AJ for their outstanding accomplishments at last week’s annual Kaua’i Spelling Bee Championship in Lihu’e. We are extremely proud to share that both learners achieved the top level of spelling and will head to the state of Hawai’i Spelling Bee Championship in Honolulu in March. Orah finished first place and AJ finished in second place outlasting every other participant from all the schools on Kaua’i.
Our great gratitude to you all for your generosity in supporting the events we hold on campus in collaboration with Kaua’i Charity Walk. Last week the 46th annual Charity Walk Kick-Off Breakfast was held. For the third year in a row, Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School was recognized as the top not-for-profit fundraising organization on Kaua’i. This incredible accomplishment would not have been possible without your support and kindness.
We appreciate the leadership demonstrated by learners on campus every day. The Grade Eight leadership projects have evolved and developed this year under the guidance of Ms. Kate. One wonderful example is the Pueo Paper, a student newspaper published every several weeks.
Mahalo nui e Ms. Charton and the Grade One class for introducing bees back to Kahili Valley. We look forward to sharing future updates on this happy work.
A helpful reminder that Monday, February 17th is the federal holiday of President’s Day and the campus will be closed on that day.
Best wishes to you all for a fabulous February. Malama pono.
