Weekly Walaʻau: Navigating the Transition with Care
Aloha kākou School ʻOhana,
Welcome back! As we open our doors for the second semester, we acknowledge that the first week back from a long winter break marks a significant transition for our keiki, staff, and families. While there is much excitement to begin new PBL ventures, we are intentionally prioritizing Pillar 2 of our Healthy Habits Compass: Mental and Emotional Well-being.
Moving from the relaxed rhythm of the holidays back into the structured Kuleana (responsibility) of the school day takes time and focused energy. We encourage our learners and families to practice Akahai and Ahonui—to be kind, gentle, and patient with one another as we find our renewed stride.
In our classrooms this week, teachers are focusing on reconnecting and reinforcing our classroom culture of Aloha. By giving ourselves and our learners the space to transition mindfully, we ensure that we are building the emotional foundation necessary for the deep, rigorous learning ahead.
Mahalo for joining us in making emotional wellness a priority as we start this new chapter together.
Me ke aloha,
The Alaka’i Leadership Team
