Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community, and I hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we head into our next Spirit Week on campus tomorrow.
Due to the great efforts of collaboration between Mrs. Shay and Ms. Kate, our school will celebrate an infusion of Read Across America and Socio-Emotional Week together to create “Aloha Across America” Spirit Week. This week starts tomorrow and will feature the following events:
- Monday is Akahai (Kindness) Day, and everyone is empowered by kindness to dress up as their favorite superhero
- Tuesday is Lokahi (Unity) Day, and everyone is encouraged to demonstrate unity by wearing a school shirt
- Wednesday is Olu Olu (Agreeable) Day, so everyone is challenged to find a friend to dress up like twins
- Thursday is Ha’a Ha’a (Humility) Day, and everyone is asked to dress up in their talent gear or bring in a picture of their talent
- Friday is Ahonui (Patience) Day, so please wear your best Aloha wear to school
On Friday, we will also hold our annual DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Event, where everyone on campus stops their current activity and takes out their favorite book for 15 minutes of reading. We do hope that the weather cooperates again this year so we can head outside to read on our beautiful campus.
A helpful reminder that Friday, March 15th is also the last day of school prior to the annual Spring Break where there is no school for students or ten month employees so they can all enjoy a well deserved break.
Mahalo for your support of our unique charter school, and best wishes for another successful Spirit Week on campus. Malama pono.
