Aloha e Alakaʻi O Kauaʻi ʻOhana,
What an incredible first week back on campus! The energy and excitement from our learners have been a joy to witness, and it is wonderful to have our school filled with the sounds of friendship and discovery once again. We kicked off the year with a fantastic week of relationship building plus our Welcome Back Assembly on Friday. It was a pleasure to introduce our amazing staff and celebrate our summer birthdays. We also had the chance to introduce important themes for the year: ALOHA Values, Kindness Matters and Attendance Matters. A big mahalo to Ms. Malissa and Ms. Kate for leading these initiatives!
Our school-wide focus this month is Akahai, which means kindness expressed with tenderness. We are already seeing so many examples of our learners showing Akahai to one another, and we encourage you to talk about this value at home.
A friendly reminder to our ohana about driving on the private road leading to and from campus. For the safety of our entire community, especially our keiki, please drive slowly and with extra caution during our busy drop-off and pick-up times. Less than 15 mph on the road should feel extremely slow with no dust trail behind your vehicle ☺️. We ask that you remain free of all distractions and be mindful of students and staff who may be walking as you approach the school buildings. Your cooperation is essential in keeping our campus a safe place for everyone and being a great neighbor to eveyone in the Kahili Mountain community.
Thank you, ohana, for your partnership in making this first week so smooth and successful. From the Open House to the first day drop-off, your support makes all the difference. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together.
Malama pono,
