Director DJ’s Message

Ho’omaika’i to all in the learning community as we share this week’s edition celebrating the massive success of the annual Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School Jog-A-Thon. Mahalo nui kakou for your generous support of this fun event and we are thrilled to share that this year we set a significant number of benchmarks never before seen at our unique charter school.

This year’s edition of the Jog-A-Thon set a new participation record of over 200 learners actively involved in the event. The event also featured the highest number of staff participants and the most amount of parent volunteers helpfully volunteering to assist on this most active day.

We are very proud of each participant in the Jog-A-Thon. We wish to recognize the top course performers for 2024. Sawyer Kimball and Tate Schuler both ran an amazing ten laps in the ten-minute time limit which required a full-out sprint to accomplish such an incredible feat.

Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School expresses great gratitude to all of our generous 2024 Jog-A-Thon donors. This year’s event raised a new record of over $24,000 due to your kindness and thoughtfulness. These monies are spent directly on our learners in such areas as supplies for Enrichment classes, buses for Field Trips, and additional financial support for Project-Based Learning.

Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School wishes to share our appreciation to Mrs. Shay for her leadership in the organizing of the 2024 Jog-A-Thon event and much of these successes are directly related to her efforts.

A happy reminder that we have now reached the end of the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. The annual Fall Break will run until Sunday, October 13th. We look forward to the return of our learners to campus for a full day of school on Monday, October 14th.

Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy holiday filled with food, friends, and fun. Malama pono.
