Aloha mai kakou to the good people in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community and we hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we head into the fourth week of school.
Mahalo for your support of our unique charter school and understanding of the warm embrace that we all share for Duke Kahanamoku. You may have noticed the sign proudly displayed at the front of the school where we try to live the wise words of Duke Kahanamoku. Last Friday our Grade Seven class held their annual celebration of the life of Duke Kahanamoku and had an opportunity to watch the film Waterman on campus. We hope everyone in our learning community can find some time and space to reflect upon the contributions of this amazing person.
The Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School annual Jog-A-Thon is coming up quickly on Friday, September 20th. This event serves as our biggest fundraiser of the school year and hopefully a big funraiser as well. We are moving towards the production of the Jog-A-Thon shirts and are looking for generous sponsors who may be interested in advertising on the shirts, which are free of charge for all students. If you know of any business that may be interested in this opportunity please have them contact Mrs. Shay.
You may have noticed that the Jog-A-Thon is scheduled much earlier this year as we wanted to avoid the January rain and also give our students more time to enjoy their shirts.
Best wishes to you all for a wonderful week ahead. Malama pono.
