Aloha mai kakou to the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School and hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we enter the last week of the 2024-2025 school year.

Mahalo nui for your amazing support of our annual Hawai’iana wrap-up event entitled Ho’ike on campus last Friday. Once again Ho’ike served as a wonderful opportunity for our learning community and the entire island of Kaua’i to come together and celebrate the beautiful culture of the islands of Hawai’i.

The absolute stars of the day were our talented keiki who dazzled us all with their performances in front of a massive audience. As a socio-emotional learning school it is wonderful to see even the most shy keiki step up to the microphone. As a project-based learning school, it is fantastic to see everyone come together in collaboration to support the learning of our learners. As a school that celebrates perpetuating Hawai’ian cultural traditions and values, it is inspiring to witness the learners sharing their knowledge of the space we share on beautiful Kaua’i. Our deep gratitude to Kumu Noe for her dedication and leadership in teaching Ike Hawai’i again this year, and for her tireless efforts in putting together another incredible Ho’ike for our learning community.

A helpful reminder that Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School will be closed tomorrow, Monday, May 26th, in observance of the federal holiday of Memorial Day. We applaud and appreciate the contributions of those selfless people who have served our country.
