Alaka'i O Kaua'i staff and campus

Happy summer holidays to all the good people in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community, and hope this message finds you in good health and happiness.

Although school is not in session for our keiki, our charter school will remain open for the entire summer to serve the needs of our learning community. We will operate with a smaller staff on campus during the following reduced summer hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

We wish to acknowledge and show our appreciation for the good people who will be on campus during June and July to help us be prepared for the 2021-2022 school year.

Mahalo to Jon for all of his incredible efforts to carve our school out from the jungle in the last three years. Jon will continue to improve the school one square foot at a time and has already commenced one of our key projects for the summer, which is painting plus refreshing walls on campus. We look forward to improving the look of the ceilings in the Art Room and Science Lab as we look at moving some of our spaces around to accommodate increased school population projects again for next year.

Mahalo to Patricia and Jennifer for their work ensuring that the financials, budgets, human resources, and school orders are in place during June and July. There is no question that Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School continues to improve due to their work in supporting the facilitators, keiki, and learning community.

Mahalo to the Board of Directors, who volunteer their time selflessly to provide strong governance of our school. We will continue to meet regularly over the summer in both subcommittees and in our monthly public board meetings that will be held virtually on June 21 and again on July 19, each at 5:00 PM. Please feel free to join in and participate or just watch at either of these meetings to keep informed about our school growth.

Lastly, mahalo to Sunny for his work keeping the rodents out of the classrooms over the summer and for providing quality entertainment for us on campus during the times that our keiki are away on holidays.

We greatly appreciate your support of our unique charter school. The next projected Monday Message will come your way in July outlining the annual Campus Clean-up to prepare for the return of our learners. Malama pono.
