Monday message 08.14.2023
Aloha mai to the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School, and we hope this message finds you in good health and happiness at the conclusion of the first week of school.
Mahalo nui kakou for the incredibly smooth transition back to campus that we have enjoyed over the last week. The learners quickly adjusted back to the routines, expectations, and schedules that we follow here at Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School. We also wish to express our gratitude to our dedicated staff who helped build a path for success for our learners to easily return to our school after the summer break. As mentioned previously Mr. Jon significantly renovated vast amounts of our campus assisted by Mr. Adam, Kumu Nouveau, and Ms. Barb to make sure that the school was prepared for many new keiki. The twelve-month staff of Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Patricia, and Kumu Nate also worked hard over June and July to build the infrastructure for everyone to be successful at our unique school.
We also wish to share our appreciation to our learning community for your unconditional support in this smooth transition as well. Our school recognizes the deep commitment that it takes for students to attend our school and love the collaboration that we enjoy together in the best interest of our keiki.
Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School is pleased to be working with Akita Transportation again this year complete with an additional third bus to serve our wide geographic area as we currently have students from Kapa’a to Kekaha. Mahalo for your patience as the new schedules, stops, and timings are all worked out with the addition of another bus. A helpful reminder that our school does not know the location of the buses once they leave campus so please contact Akita Transportation directly with your questions, concerns, or comments in these circumstances.
A happy reminder that the state of Hawai’i has set aside Friday, August 18th as Statehood Day, and in accordance with the state holiday Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School will be closed that day.
Best wishes to you all for a wonderful week ahead. Malama pono.
