Joeanne Mick

Kindergarten Facilitator

Joeanne has 25 years of experience in education. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Central Florida in Daytona Beach. She has Florida & Hawaii Certification in Prekindergarten/Primary Education Age 3 – Grade 3, Elementary Education Grades 1 – 6, in addition to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement. Before moving to Kaua’i, she worked in Florida as a substitute teacher in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, taught 3rd grade, 6th and 7th grade remedial reading, and prekindergarten.

Joeanne joined the Alaka’i O Kaua’i team in 2019 as a first-grade facilitator. The following year she moved up with her class and facilitated 2nd grade. She has facilitated kindergarten since 2021. She brings all of her experience and knowledge to the Alaka’i O Kaua’i setting in contribution to the education and future of Kaua’i keiki.

Joeanne lives in Lihue with her husband, Barry. They married 40 years ago in Florida, on a beach, at sunrise. In her spare time, she likes catching up with family on the mainland, trying new recipes, hosting small dinner parties, going to the beach, doing arts and crafts, watching movies, learning more about photography, and creating iMovies.
