Alaka'i O Kaua'i Charter School campus landscaping

Aloha to the good people on the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community, and hope this message finds you enjoying a wonderful summer vacation with ohana. Time flies when we’re having fun, and we now find ourselves counting down to the day we welcome our learners back to campus: Tuesday, August 3.

Alaka'i O Kau'i washroom renovationPreparations for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year have steadily continued over the summer vacation under the skillful guidance of Jon. Check out the beautiful renovations of the washrooms on Main Campus as one example of his excellent work. We greatly appreciate that Jon has updated much of the campus to energy-efficient lighting systems.

A happy indication that the upcoming school year is coming quickly is the annual Campus Cleanup event. A good example of the efforts from this day are found in the before-and-after pictures from our traffic circle in front of the school from last July. Many hearts and many hands quickly transformed this area and the rest of campus into areas ready for our keiki.

The 2021-2022 Campus Cleanup Day is coming up this Saturday, July 24, with shifts from 9:00-10:30 AM and again from 10:30 AM to noon. Please use this link to sign up for this worthwhile event. We are using shifts and spaces per designated area on campus to comply with the current County of Kaua’i Tier Five guidelines. Under these guidelines, we are allowed upwards of 75 people outside without masks and 25 people inside with masks.

We will have a check-in and information desk set up on Main Campus to help with directions, provide information, and perform a visit-to-campus temperature check to keep everyone safe.

School supply lists for the upcoming 2021-2022 are easily found on the school website so your ohana can prepare properly.

We are currently working with Akita Transportation to schedule bus routes, pick-up times, and drop-off times for the 2021-2022 school year. Once this information is confirmed, we will share it with our learning community right away.

Mahalo for your support of our unique charter school, and we look forward with great excitement to the 2021-2022 school year.
