School news and events for the week of {date}
Aloha to the supportive people in the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community, and hope this message finds you in good health and happiness as we near the conclusion of a most interesting 2020-2021 school year.
Last Friday we hosted Na Kupu Lau (Spring Celebration) on campus. Mahalo to all the great people who contributed to the success of the event. We are blessed to have a beautiful campus in beautiful Kahili Valley on beautiful Kaua’i, which are perfect reminders for us to embrace our roots on Hawai’i. Under the skillful guidance of Kumu Chris, Ms. Kate, and Ms. Mary Ann, our 4th graders organized the event, and our keiki from kindergarten all the way up to 6th grade celebrated. As we were still in Tier Three restrictions under the County of Kaua’i mandates, we were unable to welcome visitors to campus, so we humbly share these photos from the celebration for you to view.
As we head into the last week of the school year, we are excited to share that we will host a number of events on campus for our keiki. Due to Tier Three guidelines, we do need to dial back the magnitude and participation levels of these events, but we also felt it was extremely important to host the celebrations to maximize enjoyment for our learners. On Monday, our Sports Day will consist of simply a 100-yard-dash event for each grade level, held during lunch recess. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we will enjoy our first annual Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School Talent Show, which we will broadcast to our learning community via a Zoom link. The permission forms were sent home last week with our keiki. Friday we will celebrate our graduating kindergarteners and 6th graders, and we will send Reports of Progress home with the learners.
We greatly appreciate your support of our unique charter school. Malama pono.

It isn’t necessarily a natural-born characteristic, but it can… Read more
