Walaʻau Weekly Update: Koloa Moku Mural Project

Our campus is buzzing with creative energy as the 4th-grade learners have been painting the Ahupuaʻa Mural outside of our Learning Commons. This beautiful, whole-class project highlights the ancient social system of the Koloa Moku and is the culmination of integrated studies in their curriculum.

Under the guidance of Ms. Cain, Ms. Cheyenne, and Ms. Nicole, the learners have completed initial planning, a gallery walk of their renditions, and wall prep. This week, our keiki are applying their learning in a very real way by scaling the design to the wall—a hands-on lesson perfectly aligned with their study of fractions. We extend a big mahalo for the support and generosity that funded the project supplies through DonorsChoose. We are excited to see this culturally significant artwork unfold!

Mahalo and malama pono,
Po’okumu Paul

Wala’au Weekly – May 18, 2026

Aloha Alakaʻi Ohana! We are proud to celebrate the significant development of ‘ike Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian knowledge) among our 4th-grade learners. This past week, the 4th-grade classes engaged in powerful, hands-on learning, including field trips to the Alakoko fish pond to participate in restoration efforts, fostering a deep connection to our local cultural and ecological heritage.
