Wala’au Weekly Update: A Journey Around the World!

Aloha Alaka’i O Kaua’i Families,

This week, our gym transformed into a global classroom as our 3rd graders hosted their highly anticipated Cultural Fair: Presentation of Learning (POL)! From traditional dress and food to deep explorations of history and geography, our learners brought the world to life. This event was the culmination of weeks of rigorous inquiry in Ms. Chock’s class. Our learners not only studied world cultures—they became historians and storytellers. They researched their topics, drafted and revised their exhibits. They also practiced their public speaking skills to ensure they could share their newfound knowledge with confidence and clarity.

This POL was a brilliant demonstration of our HĀ framework in action. Through their displays, learners showed Responsibility (Kuleana) by sharing their cultures with respect and accuracy, and Excellence (Kūlia) through the hard work of editing and refining their projects. Seeing our 3rd graders take ownership of their learning and lead the way was a proud moment for our entire faculty.

Mahalo to our 3rd-grade ‘ohana for supporting these young explorers, and a huge shout-out to Ms. Chock and our learners for such a vibrant, educational, and inspiring showcase! Next week, we continue our journey of excellence.

Please stay tuned for more highlights from across our campus!
Mr. Paul, Po’okumu
