Celebrating Akahai and Academic Excellence

Aloha kākou! What a fantastic way to conclude the week. On Friday, we gathered as a unified K-8 community for our special Akahai/Academic Awards Assembly, celebrating the heart and mind of Alakaʻi O Kauaʻi. This assembly was a powerful reminder that academic excellence (Pono) and outstanding character (Akahai – kindness and humility)  are inseparable qualities that must go hand in hand.

🧡 Akahai: Celebrating Kindness and Character

We recognized the learners who consistently demonstrate Akahai (kindness and humility) in their daily interactions. This Hawaiian value is the cornerstone of our school’s Aloha culture and directly supports Pillar 3 (Community Care) of the Healthy Habits Compass. These learners model genuine empathy and ensure our school is a place of true belonging for everyone.

🧠 Academic Pono: Integrity in Learning

We were also proud to honor learners from every division (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8) who achieved academic distinction through their hard work and dedication. These awards recognize the consistent display of Pono (integrity and excellence) in their learning. Whether mastering foundational skills or successfully executing complex Project-Based Learning (PBL) deliverables, they embody the rigorous, mission-driven academic standards we uphold.

Thank you to all learners, staff, and families for supporting a culture where kindness and intellectual integrity thrive side by side.

Mahalo nui loa for a wonderful week,
