Monday message 06.10.2024
Aloha mai kakou to the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School and hope this message finds you all in good health and happiness at the start of the summer break away from the daily routines of school. Although the school year has concluded for the learners and much of the staff, the work to prepare for 2024-2025 has already started in great earnest.
“Dr.” Jon (he definitely has a PhD in Fixology) is putting great time, attention, and precision into installing the air conditioning units that were started back on May 14th with the Pure Good Foundation visit to our campus. We are pleased to share that all of the classrooms will finally have air conditioning installed to start the 2024-2025 school year which is greatly appreciated during the hot months on campus. This amazing upgrade will be in all classrooms, including the expansion all the way up to Grade Eight, which will commence in the 2024-2025 school year.
The beautiful gardens on campus continue to thrive long after the students who planted them head off for summer vacation. We greatly appreciate all the 12-month staff members and the volunteers who devote their time and care to looking after all the plants on campus.
We are excited to have a six-member team on campus next week to look after all the electronic devices and get them ready for our students to return in August. Due to the efforts of our supportive Na Hoa O Alaka’i Parent Teacher Network, we were able to achieve one-to-one electronic devices for the first time in the history of the school during the 2023-2024 school year. We are now ordering more devices as our school population approaches our maximum capacity of 250 students as set our in our state of Hawai’i Charter Contract.
The finishing touches for the Hoike condensed video were not quite ready for this week’s message, but we do have the entire event captured here by accessing this link if you are interested.
Mahalo for your support of our unique charter school and best wishes for a wonderful week ahead. Malama pono.
