Aloha, Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School Families,
We find great inspiration in the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr., who dedicated his life to the work of love, justice, true peace, and mercy. This year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day marks the 25th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates his great legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service.
This Monday, January 20, we encourage you and your family to consider giving back to your community. You can click here to visit the official MLK Day site to find opportunities and organizations near you, as well as other resources for commemorating the day.
Sincerely,
The Alaka’i O Kaua’i Team
