Early Edition – Happy Winter Break!
Aloha to the good people in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School and hope this message finds you in good health and happiness. With this message we now find ourselves at the midpoint of the 2020-2021 school year, which is a perfect time to reflect on the happy memories that have been created.
In the last week alone, we enjoyed the Alaka’i O Kaua’i Spelling Bee hosted in the outdoor classroom that has been built by our inquisitive Grade Four class. The talented Jon repaired our flagpole in front of our main campus, and we now proudly fly both the United States of America flag and the Hawai’ian state flag. MC&A Group visited our campus and presented our school with a donation check of $3,000, which will be used to enhance our library and outdoor recreational areas. We even had a special visitor to campus so our learners could spend a voluntary moment with a guest from a much colder climate.
As proud members of iLEAD Schools (now Maker Learning Network), we value the “i” in “iLEAD,” which stands for “international.” We acknowledge the cultural celebrations and international connections we see during this time of year. Happy Hanukkah, Happy Diwali (Festival of Lights back in November for our Hindu friends), and Mele Kalikimaka to our Hawai’ian ohanas in our learning community. We are pleased to have a diverse school, and in every way you celebrate, we do hope that you all enjoy a healthy and happy winter break. We look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
