Aloha to the good people in the learning community of Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School. I hope this message finds you enjoying the start of the annual Winter Break.
We loved the enthusiasm that everyone brought to campus and even Sunny got in the spirit by wearing Silly Socks in the Grade Three class.
The Christmas Craft Fair to raise awareness, support, and funds for endangered wildlife charities was a resounding success. The creativity and artistic talents of our learners were clearly on display as all the classes made crafts for the event.
Although your keiki may not have chosen some of the items in the photo, we thought it might be nice to share some of the wonderful work that our learners made to support this project.
We greatly appreciate the generosity of our learning community as we know that this endeavor raised over $2000. Once we have finalized the numbers we will share the happy news of the final count sometime after the Winter Break.
The Alaka’i O Kaua’i Charter School learning community clearly embraced our character trait focus of the month which was compassion as we were able to build dozens of food hampers to be distributed within our community first and then the island of Kaua’i.
As a social-emotional focused school, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with our learners to provide a real life experience to show compassion for others.
Mele Kalikimaka kakou and best wishes for a break filled with food, friends, family, and fun.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on campus on Tuesday, January 4th, to start the new calendar year.
Malama pono.
